Hacking your surf learning curve with San Diego surf schools

Surfing has a long-standing tradition of pride in being self taught. It may take you decades before you learn to paddle out through the breakers and access the real waves that you’re hoping to surf in. Who wants to spend their childhood getting beaten up on the inside, or their first few years in San Diego being battered by the ocean? You don’t need to spend your beginner sessions that way.

San Diego surf schools and surf camps can help you hack your surfing learning curve by access to elite knowledge and experience from highly qualified surf instructors. Unfortunately, not all surf instructors are created equal and neither are their associated surf schools.  How do you know that the surf school you’re sending your kid to is really worth the cash? How do you know that your surf instructor is going to provide you with an experience that will not only help you learn, but help you build confidence and have fun in the ocean?

First and foremost, find the best beach for learning to surf.  In San Diego, this means La Jolla Shores. La Jolla Shores is typically a slow and rolling wave ideal for beginner surfers learning to paddle, pop up, and catch their own waves independently.

Surf Education Academy never exceeds the ratio of one instructor to five students.  This is a best practice in surf instruction that not only ensures your physical safety in the water, but your emotional safety as well.  In addition, Surf Education Academy is the only San Diego surf school that ensures all instructors are certified by the International Surfing Association. The governing body for global surf instruction and competition, ISA instructions with Surf Education Academy are certified to have the skills and knowledge necessary to maintain your safety and learning in the ocean.

Access to our coaching programs provides surfers with the opportunity to review video and photos from regular surf sessions. Surfers are motivated to improve and continue surfing through a colored leash rating system. All students start as a white leash, and as they serve in progress they have the opportunity to request for an evaluation to advance to the next color. Blue leashes can be seen out in the lineup Surfing independently, learning to cave, and complete other entry level maneuvers.

Surf Education Academy takes pride in knowing that our students and surf instructors are physically and mentally prepared for whatever surf conditions come our way.  We pair our understanding of respect and appreciation for the ocean with core character education curriculum.  With the ocean as our dojo, we understand that every action we take should be for the betterment of the environment and society.

So book your lesson with surf education academy today to find out how you can improve your surfing and level up to shredding the gnar.
